Modern Slavery Policy
Introduction
At Chef’s Fayre Ltd T/A Sourced Meals, our belief is simple: when local supports local, everybody thrives. As a Norfolk-based producer of luxury frozen ready meals, we are passionate about creating exceptional food using locally sourced ingredients from suppliers and producers we know and trust. Our business is built on strong relationships with local farmers, growers, producers, customers and employees, and we believe those relationships should always be founded on fairness, dignity and respect.
Whilst we are not required to publish a statement under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, we believe it is important to be transparent about our approach. We recognise that modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking and exploitation continue to exist within global and UK supply chains, and we are committed to doing our part to identify and reduce these risks wherever they may occur.
This statement outlines the steps Chef’s Fayre Ltd has taken during the financial year to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chain.
Our Business
Chef’s Fayre Ltd, trading as Sourced Meals, is a Norfolk-based food manufacturer specialising in luxury frozen ready meals. We craft restaurant-quality meals using ingredients sourced as locally as possible, working with trusted suppliers who share our values around quality, provenance, sustainability and ethical business practices.
Our products are supplied directly to consumers through our online platform and through carefully selected retail and wholesale partners. As a growing independent business, we are proud to support local employment and local food producers throughout Norfolk and the wider East Anglian region.
Responsibility for implementing this statement sits with the Director of Chef’s Fayre Ltd, who oversees our employment practices, supplier relationships and ethical sourcing commitments.
Our Values
Our business has been built around three core principles:
-
Supporting local producers and suppliers wherever possible.
-
Providing high-quality food made from responsibly sourced ingredients.
-
Creating positive relationships with employees, customers and communities.
We believe all people have the right to work freely, safely and without exploitation. These principles guide both our internal employment practices and the standards we expect from our suppliers.
Our People
Chef’s Fayre Ltd is committed to ensuring that everyone employed by the business is treated fairly, respectfully and in accordance with UK employment law.
Our employment practices include:
-
Compliance with National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage legislation.
-
Verification of employees’ legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
-
Written contracts of employment for all employees.
-
Fair recruitment and selection procedures.
-
Equal opportunities and non-discriminatory employment practices.
-
Appropriate working hours, rest periods and holiday entitlements.
-
Open communication channels for reporting concerns or grievances.
We operate a zero-tolerance approach towards any form of forced labour and exploitation.
Our Supply Chain
The majority of our ingredients are sourced from suppliers within Norfolk, East Anglia and across the United Kingdom. Our local sourcing model provides greater visibility and transparency than many complex international supply chains.
By working closely with local producers and maintaining direct supplier relationships wherever possible, we are better able to understand how ingredients are produced and supplied. However, we recognise that modern slavery risks can still exist, even within domestic supply chains. We therefore expect all suppliers, contractors and service providers to operate ethically and comply with relevant employment, human rights and modern slavery legislation.
When selecting suppliers, we seek partners who demonstrate:
-
Ethical employment practices.
-
Compliance with employment and health & safety legislation.
-
Fair treatment of workers.
-
Transparency within their operations and supply chains.
-
A commitment to preventing modern slavery and exploitation.
Where concerns are identified, we will engage with suppliers to understand and address the issue. Where necessary, we reserve the right to terminate supplier relationships that do not meet our ethical standards.
Due Diligence
To mitigate the risk of modern slavery within our business and supply chain, we undertake a range of due diligence activities, including:
-
Working with suppliers we know and trust.
-
Prioritising local sourcing and shorter supply chains wherever practical.
-
Reviewing supplier credentials and business practices before engagement.
-
Monitoring supplier performance through ongoing relationships and communication.
-
Conducting right-to-work checks for all employees.
-
Maintaining policies and procedures that promote lawful and ethical employment practices.
As the business grows, we will continue to develop and strengthen our due diligence processes to ensure they remain effective and proportionate.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to maintaining awareness of modern slavery risks throughout our business. Managers responsible for recruitment, procurement and supplier management are encouraged to remain informed about modern slavery risks and indicators, including:
-
Forced or bonded labour.
-
Human trafficking.
-
Exploitative recruitment practices.
-
Unlawful deductions from wages.
-
Excessive working hours.
-
Restrictions on workers’ freedom of movement.
Any concerns raised will be investigated promptly and appropriately.
Looking Forward
As Sourced Meals continues to grow, we remain committed to building a business that reflects our values of local sourcing, integrity and community support. We recognise that preventing modern slavery requires ongoing vigilance and continuous improvement.
We will continue to review our practices, strengthen our supplier relationships and work with partners who share our commitment to ethical and responsible business. By supporting local producers, maintaining transparent supply chains and treating people fairly, we believe we can make a positive contribution to the communities we serve.
